About Lisa

Welcome to my site everyone!! Let’s face it. Almost everyone knows someone who has or had a drug problem, right? It is now an epidemic in this world. Sometimes it is hard to know what to do if you are a family member or friend of a drug addict. It’s really hard to know what to do if you are the drug addict yourself. Knowing the signs of this disease and some solutions could be life changing for anyone affected by drug addiction

I have been a recovering addict for the past 8 years. I have had a few relapses within those 8 years. As an addict, we all have certain characteristics that make our disease apparent to others, especially to our close family and friends.

I did not grow up thinking I would be addicted to any substance, but after I started taking pain medications for a surgery, I quickly began a down hill spiral. Slow at first, but as it progressed, it was consuming my entire life. The loss of values and good decision making, trust from others, jobs, money, etc had become my life. Only when totally exhausted, did I start to recover and find solutions.

Being around other recovering addicts, I am aware of more signs of the disease and more solutions that I didn’t know existed. There is not just one way to recover. Let’s join together and talk about the elephant in the room. I waited years to do that. I realize though I cannot change any of the past. I just focus on today and look forward to a better future, IF I stay clean one day at a time.

Addiction can be fatal if untreated

I have been given a miracle. The chance to live a great life. I want that for everyone who has been affected by this disease. I cannot work a program for anyone, but I can support and be a sounding board. I want to provide information to anyone who is needing it because addiction is a terrible place to stay in AND watch others be in.  I pray every day that addicts get the chance to reach that turning point in their life and live.

I would love to hear also from other recovering addicts about signs and solutions they have found that work in their life. It may save someone’s life to hear it and there are so many recovery tools out there. If you are struggling, please read my other posts and know you can do it. One day at a time with support.

  1. Truth in every word. Just by the grace of God I’ve never been the addict but unfortunately I seem to fall into the enabler column. Being older now I see that but at the time you are just trying to “save” your loved one long enough…your words ring true tho. In hindsight I probably did everything wrong but was blessed enough that once it was turned over to God it all came out a happy ending. Thanks for your insights and bless everyone out there trying to overcome this beast!

    1. Thank you for your interest in my site. I just wish you could have had this information when you needed it. I am sure you did things right too Mama.
I am just glad it all worked out and your loved one came through it and is doing well. I wish only the best for you both.
